Masculinities

Exhibition in the fall of 2023

In the continuity of its exhibitions "Transidentites" in April 2023 and "Modern Gender" in May, Galerie M is organizing an exhibition on the theme of "Masculinities" which will take place in the second half of 2023. It will bring together between 4 and 6 artists.
To do this we are launching a call for applications open to all and without any limitation.

The purpose

Within the framework of the exhibition, we wish to focus on what characterizes the male gender, and in particular on the places where masculinity is shared.
Cultural, sports and religious communities will be observed, as well as groups that share common values and interests, and even professions and activities that have historically been reserved for men.
Works questioning the very notion of masculinity, as well as its representations, may also be presented.

Dates

The opening date for applications is 02 May 2023, and the closing date is 30 June 2023, subject to change. Selected applicants will be contacted individually.

Exhibition of works

The winners will have their works exhibited during the "Masculinities" exhibition.
The size of the works, their selling price and the gallery's commission rate are agreed upon with the selected artists. A contract will be signed between the artist and the gallery.
The photographs will be signed and numbered, the number of copies of the prints is limited.
The laureates are responsible for the framing and transportation of their works to and from the exhibition site in Paris and return. Framing systems may be made available to the artists depending on the size of the works.
The Gallery will hang the works. The Gallery does not cover the production costs of the exhibited works.

Submission of applications

Applications must be sent by e-mail to ¹. They will be composed of a series of 2 to 6 visuals maximum and a description of the project (1500 characters maximum) as well as the formats of each work. A resume and/or addresses of your websites or instagram accounts are welcome.
Participation is open to all and without any limitation. No financial participation is required.

Rights

Participation in this call for applications implies that each artist has the necessary rights and authorizations for the distribution of his or her work. Otherwise, Galerie M cannot be held responsible.
