Exhibition in November 2023

If you take photographs using old processes: cyanotypes, palladium, oleotypes... Galerie M is organizing its first exhibition on old processes in November, and invites you to respond to this call for entries.

Subjects of today - techniques of yesteryear.

Such is the proposal of this exhibition project.
Or how today's photographers are reappropriating old processes.
We could also talk about anachronism, or the temporal gap between the technique used and what the image presents. How can we think about the image through this prism? That's the challenge of this exhibition!

This exhibition will be both didactic: aimed at a wide audience (videos will be presented to complement the works) and artistic: these processes are like a counterpoint to the over-representation of images and their volatility.

In addition to the exhibition itself, workshops can be organized.

Dates

The opening date for applications is 02 May 2023, and the closing date is 31 July 2023, subject to change. Selected applicants will be contacted individually.

Exhibition of works

The winners will have their works exhibited during the "Masculinities" exhibition.
The size of the works, their selling price and the gallery's commission rate are agreed upon with the selected artists. A contract will be signed between the artist and the gallery.
The photographs will be signed and numbered, the number of copies of the prints is limited.
The laureates are responsible for the framing and transportation of their works to and from the exhibition site in Paris and return. Framing systems may be made available to the artists depending on the size of the works.
The Gallery will hang the works. The Gallery does not cover the production costs of the exhibited works.

Submission of applications

Applications must be sent by e-mail to ¹. They will be composed of a series of 2 to 6 visuals maximum and a description of the project (1500 characters maximum) as well as the formats of each work. A resume and/or addresses of your websites or instagram accounts are welcome.
Participation is open to all and without any limitation. No financial participation is required.

Participation in this call for applications implies that each artist has the necessary rights and authorizations for the distribution of his or her work. Otherwise, Galerie M cannot be held responsible.
